It is amazing to think how much time and attention we give to the gods of this world – especially when we compare them to the God of the Bible. One read of Psalm 145 and we realize there is no comparison. The list of God’s attributes in this one song should be enough to secure our enduring allegiance.
The God of the Bible is…
1) The King; 2) Great; 3) Majestic; 4) Powerful; 5) Good;
6) Righteous; 7) Gracious; 8) Merciful; 9) great in Lovingkindness; 10) full of Glory;
11) Everlasting; 12) the Sustainer; 13) Kind; 14) Near (personal, present); and 15) Holy.
Fittingly, the song ends much like it began:
My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD; and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever (v. 21).
