What to Expect

Thinking about joining us this Sunday? Here’s what you will find.

Our Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 am and finish at 10:15. We have individual classes for children ages 3-5 and 6-8, for boys and girls together. Ages 9-12 and young people (13+) each have a separate class for boys and girls. There is currently one adult class. There is also a nursery for infants. Come before 9:30 am to enjoy a cup of fresh coffee, meet the friendly folks at RBC, and find where to go for Sunday School.

The worship service begins at 10:30 am. We are a family-oriented church and encourage parents to have their children with them during the service. It’s not a problem to those up front if young children get a bit restless at times; we like to have the children in our services – it’s part of who we are at RBC! We leave it to the discretion of the parents if they feel they need to take their children out for a period. Once again, there is a nursery for infants. We have assigned workers, but mothers are also welcomed to stay there with their children – one of the nursery rooms has one-way glass and a speaker so you can watch and hear the service and message while caring for your child.

Music is an important part of our worship. We sing hymns, older and newer, in what most would call a traditional style, accompanied by piano and orchestra. There is an adult choir and a youth choir that sing during many services from September through May. We also observe the Lord’s Table on the first Sunday of each month.

After Sunday morning worship, join us in the gym for lunch. On the third Sunday of each month, we have a potluck luncheon. Every other Sunday is bring-your-own. We have a well-supplied kitchen for preparing or warming your meal. Feel free to bring your crockpot, casserole dish, or cooler, or pick something up at a nearby restaurant. It’s a special time of fellowship with the body.

To accommodate families who travel a significant distance, we have Sunday afternoon activities immediately following lunch rather than a traditional evening service. Children’s choir rehearses at 12:45 pm. Adult choir and a special children’s program begin at 1:15. Adult discussion group also meets at 1:15 to consider application questions from the morning message.

You will not see a uniform style of dress at RBC. Some men and boys wear suits and ties – some do not. Some ladies and girls wear “Sunday best,” while others are more casual. Regardless, we seek to encourage modesty that honors the Lord rather than drawing attention to self. We welcome you as you are and hope you will be encouraged to know and follow Jesus Christ in a caring community of believers.

We also meet every Wednesday evening for Bible Study and Prayer.

We schedule a number of activities each month for various groups within the church family. For example, nearly every Monday night a group gathers for Volley Ball Night. Once a month we schedule a Friday Family Fun Night. The first Sunday evening of each month w host the Rockwall Pray for Our Nation meeting. We have active Ladies’ and Men’s Ministry groups, as well as a quarterly get-together for our OWLS (Older Wiser Living Servants).
